Late night / Edition 05

After Midnight, by Area.

Where Brisbane actually stays open past midnight, sorted by where you are. Eight spots, four parts of town, from a 24 hour espresso bar to Korean fried chicken at half past three.

After Midnight cover Inner city The Valley Southside and north

Brisbane likes to tell you it shuts at 9. It doesn't. You just need to know where to look, and the answer changes a lot depending on which side of the river you are on.

So here is the actual after-midnight map, split by area. Every spot checked for what it really does past midnight, not just what the opening hours claim.

1. Pancake Manor

The 3am pancake stop, inside an 1879 church. Inner city.

18 Charlotte Street, Brisbane City · @pancake_manor · Get directions

A converted 1879 church on Charlotte St, running as a pancake house since 1979. It is the rare spot in the CBD that is genuinely awake at 3am, not just a kitchen winding down late. Tall stacks, vinyl booths, and a green neon sign under a vaulted timber roof.

Hours. 24 hours, 7 days.

2. Death Before Decaf

Brisbane's one true all-night espresso bar. Inner city.

3/760 Brunswick Street, New Farm · @deathbeforedecaf247 · Get directions

Takeaway only, metal and skate decks on every wall, and still pouring espresso at four in the morning. Close enough to Fortitude Valley that it doubles as the after-club coffee on the walk home. If you are up, they are open.

Hours. 24 hours, 7 days. No seating, order inside and wait out front.

3. Sul.Zip

Korean drinking food, well past midnight. Inner city.

Lower ground, S2/85 Elizabeth Street, Brisbane City · @sulzip.bne · Get directions

A basement anju den off Elizabeth St built for the late shift: soju, makgeolli, fried chicken, jeon. A real kitchen running to half past one, not a bar coasting on last drinks. The room fills up after most CBD places have called it.

Hours. Mon to Fri 3pm to 1.30am, Sat and Sun 4pm to 1.30am.

4. New York Slice

Pre-made slices, no wait. The Valley.

Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley · to around 4am on weekends

Slices already made and sitting in the case, so there is no wait at the worst possible hour. The classic Valley feed on the walk between one place and the next. Late every night, latest on the weekend.

Hours. Roughly to 3.30am midweek, to 4am Thursday to Saturday. Check before a very late run.

5. Chicken of Rock

Korean fried chicken, the real 3am end point. The Valley.

358 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley · @chickenofrock · Get directions

Their own bio says it plainly: every late night at the Valley. Open daily from 5pm and trading to half past three on weekend nights, which lines up almost exactly with the actual end of a Valley night out.

Hours. Daily from 5pm. Closes 1am Mon to Wed, 2.30am Thu and Sun, 3.30am Fri and Sat.

6. Bombay Dhaba

A full desi meal, round the clock. Southside.

Unit 1/2120 Logan Road, Upper Mount Gravatt · Get directions

Indian and Nepalese food on Logan Rd, cricket on the screens, open around the clock every day. Not snack scale, an actual sit-down feed at any hour. The southside answer when the inner city feels too far.

Hours. 24 hours, 7 days. The Upper Mount Gravatt venue, not the West End one.

7. Pinelands Fruit World

A genuine all-night grocer. Southside.

Pinelands Plaza, Pinelands Road, Sunnybank Hills · Get directions

Not a meal, a market. A fruit and veg shop inside Pinelands Plaza that runs around the clock, known for cheap produce and hard-to-find Asian greens. This is the 2am coriander run, the one place on the southside open when you need an ingredient and nothing else is.

Hours. 24 hours, 7 days. The grocer itself, not the larger Beenleigh Rd complex which closes at 11pm.

8. H Cafe and Bar

Banh mi and eggs at any hour. North.

Portside Wharf, Hamilton · Get directions

One of the few genuine all-nighters outside the Valley. Banh mi, all-day eggs benedict and burgers at the entrance to Portside Wharf, with free basement parking. The shift workers and students know it well, which is the surest sign a 24 hour spot is the real thing.

Hours. 24 hours, 7 days. Public holidays close at 10pm.

A note on the picks

Checked June 2026 against venue listings and recent local coverage. Hours move, so confirm before a very late trip, especially New York Slice and anything that lists weekend-only late times.

Always check opening hours directly before going.
